Today we've added Live Support feature to the website. It allows any visitor to have a chat with us in real-time, given that we're online. And we are online rather frequently - during and outside the business hours in Victoria, BC (Pacific Standard Time, UTC - 8 hours).

We got reports from some of our early users that they never got a verification code after submitting their phone number. Amount of verification messages that weren't received is actually fairly significant.

Please note that this only concerns those who didn't receive their initial verification message. if you did receive it and confirmed your phone number, then you have nothing to worry about. Your notifications will be delivered on time once the content you're monitoring is updated.

We are currently using Twilio as our SMS gateway. They have a very impressive list of countries for which they deliver text messages. Here's a link. They're also just a great and easy to use service overall. I personally recommend them to other developers.

We've been told by Twilio that due to provider issues outside of their control, messages in some countries might not be delivered. It's unfortunate, but we're doing our best to report failed deliveries to help Twilio track this issue and resolve it for everyone who'se using their SMS service. Best of luck to Twilio!

On the day following our launch, Greg's Pulse was featured in an article published on Lifehacker: Greg's Pulse review on Lifehacker.

It's flattering to be noticed so quickly, and with this early reaction comes both encouragement and highly needed criticism:

You probably wouldn't want to use something like Greg's Pulse with a lot of things, but if you're on an apartment hunt or doing something similar in which every second counts, it could be a worthwhile service.

And here's their take on our current pricing:

It's a nice service and all, but if you need it for more than a few alerts for a short time, the price seems a little off the mark for what we'd be willing to pay.

We're in a process of working out a slightly different (but not to a great extent) pricing model, and the website will be updated to reflect this soon.

In the comments an issue with our current link analysis algorithm was mentioned. Currently, a small percentage of links which users try to monitor are being falsely reported as containing nothing of interest (e.g., no RSS feeds). This is definitely something we are looking into, and the blog will be updated once the issue is resolved.

We'll be using this blog to publish updates, news, how business is going,
and all kinds of other Greg's Pulse related stuff. The website itself was
launched yesterday, so we're in a very early "beta", "alpha", or whatever
stage. As such, any feedback is very appreciated! Our goal is to make the
product as useful - and accessible/usable - as possible.
